Join North Fork naturalist Mary Laura Lamont for an early Summer walk on the Hallockville grounds and learn how to identify tree species and the importance of trees to ecosystems.

Thursday, July 23 – East Bound Freight

Eastbound Freight Bluegrass Band has been performing throughout the New York Metropolitan area for over 30 years. The band members include John Brisotti on mandolin, Dave Thompson on guitar, Bruce Barry on bass, Bill DeTurk on banjo, and Bill Ayasse on fiddle. They share a life-long connection to the music and the big bluegrass sound of the original groups: Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys, Flatt & Scruggs, The Stanley Brothers, Jimmy Martin & the Sunny Mountain Boys, and others. In the words of renowned fiddler Kenny Kosek, “their vocal and instrumental performances have been honed to a comfortable burnish that can only be achieved by 25 years of playing music together.”

Thursday, August 13 – Free Grass Union

Established in 2000 by Kim Lawrence Humphrey (Guitar/Vocals) & Gregory Butler (Mandolin/Vocals) Free Grass Union bring a unique cosmic stew to the table that can be compared to no other. Joined by bluegrass musician Mitch Erdman (Upright Bass) the band is deeply rooted in Bluegrass, Folk & other forms of Americana music. Free Grass Union are known for their incorporation of a wide array of other music styles: Jazz, Funk, Ambient and Psychedelia to their jam infused live performances.

Thursday, August 20 –  Buddy Merriam & Back Roads

Buddy received the Long Island Sound Award from the Long Island Music Hall of Fame for his “Outstanding Contributions to Long Island’s Musical Heritage”. Blue Grass Times Radio at WUSB 90.1 FM streaming live at WUSB.fm
