Hallockville Museum Farm - Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities for 2008
- There are many ways that a corporate sponsor can partner with the Hallockville Museum Farm. These include annual events, one-time activities, educational programming, capital
projects, and special projects. Some of these are detailed below, but we are always interested in discussing specific ideas that a potential sponsor might have.
- Events: Sponsors will be featured prominently in event program, can place corporate logo and signage at event, and will receive free tickets for corporate guests.
- Fall Festival: Our 26th annual Fall Festival and Craft Show attracted nearly 5,000 visitors from all over Long Island.
Suggested sponsorship: $25,000
- Traditional Barn Dance: This event fills our Naugles Barn every July with guests dancing to the music of a live traditional fiddle band.
Suggested sponsorship: $1,000
- Farm to Table Dinner: Local chiefs use local produce to prepare a sumptuous dinner served country style in our Naugles Barn. Sold out last year.
Suggested sponsorship: $2,500
- Victorian Christmas: With tours of our fully decorated historic homestead, model trains in the barn and Santa arriving on our 1938 Ford truck, this event enchants young and old.
Suggested sponsorship: $2,500
- Revolutionary War Encampment: The 3rd New York Regiment - Long Island Companies will be back again this spring to camp near the pre-Revolutionary Hallock homestead/
Suggested sponsorship: $1,000
- Nature Walks: Mary Laura Lamont, our expert naturalist, leads regular walks through our fields and into Jamesport State Park beyond.
Sponsored by KeySpan Corporation
- Education and Camp Programs: A core part of Hallockville’s mission is taking the next generation back to their agricultural roots on the farm. Here are some ways that sponsors can
help with this important work:
- Scholarships for needy Summer Camp students: $ 1,350 per student
- Cloth bags for students branded with sponsor and Hallockville logos: $1,000
- “Family Day” open house for children and parents: $2,500
- “Winter on the Farm” break week program: $1,000
- “Spring on the Farm” break week program: $1,000
- In addition to these specific educational activities, we encourage corporate citizens to explore sponsoring the entire education and camp program for $20,000.
- Capital Projects: The Hallockville campus houses 18 historic barns, farmhouses and other structures built at various times over the last 250 years. Given the age and unique nature of
these structures, there is a constant demand for maintenance and renovation to meet modern health and safety requirements. Sponsorships can include direct monetary support,
materials and/or professional labor.
- Washroom facility: An important part of our educational activities is hands-on learning. This includes having students work with farm animals and in the farm gardens. However, we
do not currently have adequate facilities for proper sanitation and washing after such activities. We are actively pursuing acquisition of a historic building that would house such facilities
but any building would need to satisfy code requirements.
Estimated cost: $80,000
- Homestead Barn Roof: A center-piece of the campus is the 250-year-old Homestead Barn. The barn is one of the oldest on Eastern Long Island. It started life as a traditional English
style barn, and was gradually expanded to 5,000 square feet by 1900 – and has not been changed since!
Estimated cost: $70,000
- Fire alarms: Ensuring the safety of school children and other visitors, and the New York public, is our top priority. An upgraded alarm system is essential to meeting that need. An
improved system is also critical to protecting the historic wooden buildings at Hallockville, including the 250-year-old Homestead Barn, from fire hazard. An upgraded alarm system will allow
us to provide an even safer environment for visitors.
Estimated cost: $12,000
- Naugles Barn painting: This is a circa-1930 gambrel roof barn that was recently fully restored and is now used for many public events. However, the exterior of the barn was last
painted over 60 years ago and seriously needs attention.
Estimated cost: $35,000
- Special Exhibits: There is a need for rotating special exhibits to attract repeat visitors to the museum farm. These exhibits would feature both artifacts from the museum’s collections
and items on loan from members. Possible subjects include: Victorian weddings, historic toys, and local quilt. We welcome additional suggestions, especially from sponsors!
Estimated cost: $5,000
- Curator: The museum desperately needs the services of a profession curator to update existing exhibits and create new ones to interpret the Polish Immigrant Farming Experice at
Hallockville. We can get a grant for half of the cost if we find a private donor to match it.
Estimated cost: $15,000 per year for two years.
- Hallockville Endowment: Hallockville is a wonderful place for present generations to connect with their past--- we want future generations to have that same opportunity. Perhaps the
most enduring way that a corporate sponsor could partner with Hallockville is to contribute to the Hallockville Museum Farm Endowment. Our goal is to increase the current endowment by
five-fold to $500,000 within the next five years. It is unlikely that we can reach such an ambitious goal without the support of corporate citizens.
Estimated cost: All contributions welcome!
